Firstly, tell us the story behind this image. What inspired you to shoot it?
It was really busy day, since morning we were struggling to find a place for a hike, due to high number of tourists we had to pass on another two locations. The trail was crowded and after reaching the hut we sat down for a short rest. In all the buzz my eyes were drawn towards Becco di Mezzodi, calm peak bathed in sun, empty trail and shallow stream running through a meadow dotted with white flowers. I took out my camera, mounted a GND filter and took a photo for a moment feeling completely alone.
Did you come across any challenges?
Not really, I was afraid that trail would again fill with tourists before I managed to take a photo, but as it turned out I had plenty of time.
What process did you use (Tripod? Set exposure time? Filters? Lighting?)
Handheld, with GND filter to protect highlights a bit. I didn’t set up my tripod as i thought it may take too long.
How did you process it?
The first battle of permission for home darkroom was lost, so for now I’m sending my film to Fotoforma Lab in Warsaw, within a day I get my film developed and scanned accordingly to my preferences. I retouchTIFF file in Lightroom if needed.

About The Author

Jerzy Jarczewski
I’m a landscape photographer based in Poland. I shoot mainly digital, but over past few months I started to turn a lot more to the film. Despite being able to sell a few collectors edition prints I still consider myself as a hobbyist. This years trip to Dolomites was my first proper landscape outing with my film camera.
