Below are some of the common errors that can occur when processing black and white films. Unfortunately some of these errors can result in the images being lost or partially ruined. By knowing what has caused the errors, you may hopefully prevent any repeat incidents.
Film entirely blank - No visible images or edge signing
A completely blank film with no images and no signing (i.e text in the perforation areas showing product and numbers) - indicates the film has received no development at all.

Our DELTA PROFESSIONAL films use the latest film emulsion technology which gives them the advantage of a lower grain to speed ratio. Which means that you get less grain at the equivalent speed when compared to PLUS films giving a slightly cleaner, sharper look. For this week's #ilfordphoto #fridayfavourites we asked you to share your shots on our #deltafilms.

In the summer of 2017 my friends, novice climbers, asked me to climb Elbrus with them. This is the highest mountain peak in Russia and Europe. The idea sounded great, especially because I have loved mountains since my childhood. But my campaign plan immediately included a large-format camera, with which I have been travelling for many years (mostly, of course, by car with a camera in the trunk).
For a while I wondered if I should take a big camera with me too. Would it be better to take a Hasselblad? But...
In the midst of ever more sophisticated technology we live with the illusion of saving time by doing things with more speed, and increasingly relying on computers: programmes work out difficult problems, they plan for us, think for us. Files, servers and systems store information for us, including photographs - hundreds of millions of photographs.

Capturing Wine Making Equipment on Ilford HP5 Film

The project was inspired when Chris was purchasing a bottle of wine from the wine cooperative “Empordàlia” and saw all of the old wine making equipment at the back of the room. He thought the intricate detail of the rustic machinery would make a great photographic project us...
A Photographic Love Affair
My love affair for photography was born out of my passion for music. In 1990, when I was 18, my late father took me camera shopping at the local mall because I thought it would be fun to photograph rock stars. He helped me select a beautiful Nikon SLR that I quickly mastered.
Shot on Ilford XP2.
I began shooting some of the biggest bands in the world and some that were yet to be known as they toured through the United States. My film of choice was Ilford XP2. I loved it b...
Making the Most of Life Around Me
I don’t really remember a period of my life when I wasn’t making photographs. My mother got me my first point and shoot camera when I was about five. It was an ‘Action Man Spy Camera’ that took small 110 roll film. I loved the idea of blending in with a camera, trying to document what was going on around me without actually disturbing anything. I still love that.
